Denver Nuggets Miss Out on David Roddy Signing
The Denver Nuggets have missed out on signing David Roddy, a 2022 NBA first-round pick, who has instead joined Hapoel Jerusalem BC in Israel. The 6'7" forward averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds in five games for the Nuggets last season.
What Happened?
Roddy, who was a brief part of the Nuggets' lineup in 2025-26, signed a two-way deal and appeared in five regular-season games. He shot 50% from the field in a little over 14 minutes a game. The Nuggets had reportedly shown interest in Roddy's skillset, but ultimately decided not to sign him.
Why It Matters for Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets need guards more than they do forwards, and Roddy doesn't check that box. While he brings a nice dose of grit and a potential two-way skillset to the rotation, he still might not have had a clear spot in the rotation to warrant him as one of their final free agent signings of the offseason.
What Comes Next?
The Nuggets will need to keep an eye on free agent guards that could back up Jamal Murray this season. With only Tyus Jones to fill that mold, the backcourt rotation would look a lot better with one more veteran minimum candidate. As to who the Nuggets could look to target, or if they even decide to leave a roster spot open after new deals for Peyton Watson and Spencer Jones, remains to be seen.

Nuggets' David Roddy Signing Won't Be Happening
Roddy's signing to Hapoel Jerusalem BC in Israel effectively ends any and all speculation that he could return to next year's roster, despite Denver's rumored interest in his talent as a player. The Nuggets like Roddy "a lot," according to DNVR's Harrison Wind, who thinks they like how hard he plays and how unique of a player he is.
Why the Nuggets Are Fine Without Roddy on the Roster
The problem is that the Nuggets' roster didn't really need another big-bodied forward like Roddy. They need guards more than they do forwards, and Roddy doesn't check that box. While he brings a nice dose of grit and a potential two-way skillset to the rotation, he still might not have had a clear spot in the rotation to warrant him as one of their final free agent signings of the offseason.
David Roddy's New Deal
Roddy will now join a roster that hosts a few other former NBA players, including Cassius Winston, Isaiah Mobley, Devontae Cacok, and Jared Harper. Hapoel Jerusalem BC competes in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, the top tier of Israeli competition, and in the EuroCup. The club has agreed to a new deal with Roddy for their upcoming season.
